The NFL is experimenting with one of the London-based games later this year to bring new viewers from around the world on board.
An American Football game is to be streamed live online around the world rather than broadcast on television for the first time.
The matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London will be available to watch for free to viewers around the world.
It is an experiment designed to target the thousands of NFL fans who no longer subscribe to a cable package in the US.
NFL executive Brian Rolapp said: “We’re testing alternative ways to distribute games. If the world ever changes, we want to be prepared.”
The plan will also make it easier for fans in countries which do not have television deals to air American Football to see some of their favourite players in action.
The league is still seeking an internet distributor for the game but it could be a service like YouTube.
The game takes place on 25 October, one of three games staged in London as part of the regular NFL season.
The tie – between two less glamorous sides from smaller markets – is seen as a test of how high demand for the sport is in the UK.
