NFL: 3 trades that should have been made

By Enwereji Amuruche

Trade deadline day left us with 10 deals, setting a new record in the NFL.

This new-look NFL has already given us Super Bowl worthy matchups and a lot for fans to talk about. The biggest trade before deadline day saw Christian McCaffrey traded from the struggling Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers.  And it had an impact. His recent performance against last year’s champions, the Los Angeles Rams, sent a message across the league that the 49ers are a serious force to be reckoned with.

Bears quarterback, Justin Fields got a much-needed receiver in Chase Claypool while the Dolphins acquired linebacker Bradley Chubb. Teams across the league took the step to improve their teams on Deadline Day. Some trades were close to happening but ultimately failed.

Let’s take a look at three trades that would have greatly improved the fortunes of some teams.

DJ Moore from Carolina Panthers to the Baltimore Ravens.

Moore back in Baltimore would have been a match made in heaven. One of the best young receivers in terms of yards after the catch. Moore would provide Lamar Jackson a different type of weapon that the Ravens do not have on their roster. Unfortunately, this did not happen as Carolina would have required a hefty trade package from a Ravens team who are still contenders without Moore.

Brandon Cooks from Houston Texans to the Dallas Cowboys

A lot of noise has been made about the Cowboys’ defense this season but a veteran receiver like Brandon Cooks would have propelled them to new heights especially after they lost Amari Cooper to the Browns. Cooks thrived in a less than average Texans offense, so imagine what he would have done with Dak Prescott. Cooks contact

Jerry Jeudy from Denver Broncos to the Green Bay Packers.

The struggling Green Bay Packers would greatly benefit from a good receiver like Jerry Jeudy. He is no way a replacement for Davante Adams. Jeudy would help the struggling Packers offense in many ways. He would offer a dynamic receiving threat that the Packers do not have on their roster. He will provide that one-on-one threat that they lack and can also fit in the slot on snaps.
