The Rotterdam Trojans have made the shock announcement that they are pulling the plug on the upcoming Dutch league season only a day after postponing their first league game.
The league is set to start on February 22.
Apparently, the finalists for the BNL league title in 2024. cannot muster enough players for a team. It seems the once proud franchise watched as players left en masse, many going to the Lightning Leiden. This mass player exodus did not go unnoticed by the remaining players. According to Gridiron American Football, one of them sounded the alarm in an app just last week.
“Guys, get your asses to practice, we got a game this month and we have 8 people at practice. We went from finalists of the BNL to not even being able to compete in this fucked up league.”
The American Football Federation of the Netherlands, AFBN, has put together a new game schedule as a result of the withdrawal of the Trojans. This season schedule will be published on the website later after a factual check.
