Mid-season stats leaders in German Football League surprising but not shocking
As the German Football League has hit a four week break with only three games scheduled during that time, let’s take a look at the offensive stats leaders.
After eight rounds of play in the 14 game GFL season, there are still some surprising leaders in the three key offensive categories, passing, rushing and receiving yardage.
What is also clear is that no one team is dominating the stats although two teams remain undefeated, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and Braunschweig New Yorker Lions.
The Hildesheim Invaders, Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Munich Cowboys and Marburg Mercenaries all have two representatives each among the Top 5 in each of the three categories. Behind them with one player each are the Dusseldorf Panther, Potsdam Royals, Cologne Crocodiles, Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, Stuttgart Scorpions, Dresden Monarchs and Kirchdorf Wildcats. Teams without any players include the Allgäu Comets, Ingolstadt Dukes, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, Berlin Rebels and, surprisingly, the Frankfurt Universe.
Passing
Marburg Mercenaries QB Jake Sullivan continues to lead the passing leaderboard after throwing for 2,167 yards in seven games. Right behind him in 2nd is Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns QB Jadrian Clark with 2,152 yards and a league-best 33 TDs. Brady Bolles of the Munich Cowboys has climbed into 3rd with 2,143 while Casey Therriault from the Hildesheim Invaders who has 2,141 is now 4th. Dusseldorf Panther QB Christian Strong has moved onto the rankings for the first time and is 5th with 1,975 yards.
Rushing
Gennadiy Adams of the Potsdam Royals has moved into the lead in rushing with his 582 yards and league-leading 8 TDs. Cologne Crocodiles RB Colby Goodwyn, although injured, is 2nd with 538 yards while Chris McClendon of the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions has moved up into 3rd and now has 514 yards and 4 TDs. Marburg Mercenaries RB Triston McCathern is the 4th leadig rusher in the GFL with 498 yards while Stuttgart Scorpions RB Giacomo De Pauli is 5th and has 477 yards.
Receiving
Jaylen Zachery of the Munich Cowboys has taken over top spot among all receivers with 1,073 yards in eight games while Kevonn Mabon of the Dresden Monarchs is now 2nd with 959. Hildesheim Invaders WR Nathaniel Morris is the 3rd leading receiver in the GFL with 812 while Tyler Rutenbeck of the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns is 4th with 763 and a league-best 15 TDs. Kichdorf Wildcats WR Robert Ruiz has slid to 5th with 761 yards.
