The CONADEIP has 11 teams in two conferences, the Libertado and the Independence.
In 2018, a bowl of champions was played, between the champions of the ONEFA, the UNAM Pumas CU and the CONADEIP champion, BORREGOS Toluca, with Toluca capturing their first ever Mexican college title beating the Pumas 16-15.
Let’s take a look at key matchups from this past weekend.
ONEFA
Pumas UNAM 33 – Burros Blancos IPN 7
Thanks to three touchdown passes by rookie quarterback Marco Antonio Durán (15) and an outstanding defense, the Pumas CU managed to maintain their dominance over the Burros Blancos IPN in the “student classics” of American football downing them 33-7.
Durán started the season as the third-string quarterback on the roster of the UNAM team, but his play last week in a big win over the Tigres earned him the starting spot on this day.
The Burros fans were ready for a party as their team entered the game undefeated, but the Pumas spoiled the atmosphere almost from the opening whistle. After the Burros scored on their first offensive series, the Puma’s took full control and left no doubt.
With this result the Pumas CU record remains in 5-1, with a pending duel against the Aguilas Blancas; while Burros Blancos drop 6-1. Both teams have a guaranteed space for the postseason.
