The Reyes de Jalisco of Mexico’s Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional have re-signed cornerback Demario Donnell for the 2023 season.
The 5’9″, 190 pound native of Nashville, Tennessee is returning for his second season in Mexico and is hoping he can bring a championship to Jalisco after being a part of an expansion team that made the playoffs in their first year, only to be eliminated by the Raptors de Naulcapan in the wild card round.
Last year with the Reyes, the 28-year old defensive back accumulated 40 tackles, three tackles for loss, an interception and five pass break ups.
Before he was playing in Mexico, he spent 2012-2016 with Tennessee Tech University (NCAA DI) where he was All-Conference playing in 43 games and recording 132 tackles earning him a spot in the FCS National Bowl All-Star Game. He then began his professional career the following year with the Amarillo Venom of Champions Indoor Football where he spent the next two seasons, becoming First Team all-CIF. He played two more years in arena football for the Columbus Lions and the Wichita Force, before he finally started playing for the Reyes de Jalisco in 2022.
