Mexico: Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) reaches season’s midpoint this weekend
The Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional heads into week four of the 2022 season, and like last week, the LFA has another trio of games on their slate for this weekend.
Friday, March 25
Raptors Naucalpan (1-1) @ Fundidores de Monterrey (1-1)
The weekend kicks off Friday night with two teams needing to prove themselves as the season approaches the midpoint. The Raptors are coming off of their bye week following a tough 10-8 loss to the Mexicas in a game they were leading for most of the way and lost, and thus, hope to get into rhythm. Meanwhile, the Fundidores, are trying to position themselves as one of the league’s best teams after their 27-13 throttling of the Mexicas last week.
Saturday, March 26
Reyes de Jalisco (1-1) @ Mexicas CDMX (1-2)
In our first matchup on Saturday, both the Reyes and the Mexicas are trying to get their second win of the season with both teams vying for a trip to the Tazón Mexico. Even in a winning effort against the Galgos, the Reyes know that if they want to achieve that goal in their first season, their offenses must play better and hope that it will click in their third game. The Mexicas, on the other hand, hope their offense will get going this week, but they know their opponents have one of the best defenses in the game and they hope they catch Jalisco off guard.
Dinos de Saltillo (3-0) @ Galgos de Tijuana (0-2)
Finally, in a duel of total opposites, we have the Dinos, who are undefeated, travelling to Tijuana to take on the winless Galgos. The Dinos feel confident they can move to 4-0 and be the first team to secure a playoff spot thanks in large part to their offense, as Saltillo is the only team so far to have scored 20 or more points in multiple games this season. The Galgos, meanwhile, are still in search of their first win as a franchise and are hoping their offense can pull an upset against the stingy Dinos defense. And they’s need to rely on their defense as the Galgos have only scored nine points of total offense so far this season, and were shut out by the Reyes last week.
