The Cancun Tiburones of the Fútbol Americano de México league, in Mexico have signed their quarterback for the 2022 season. After a long courting of American signal-caller Clark Hazlett, the Tiburones have signed a quarterback they are excited about. Hazlett seems to feel the same way:
“I originally had signed to play in the FCF (Fan Controlled Football) football league based in Atlanta for the 2022 season. Once the opportunity to sign with the Cancún Tiburones organization presented itself, it was an easy decision for me to make. Cancun has served as my home away from home and I look forward to well representing the state of Quintana Roo.’
The 6’4″, 220-pound passer has had his eye on the Mexican football scene for quite some time. The 24-year-old quarterback was invited to training camp by the Cancun Tiburones back in 2021 and ended up spending several months training and living south of the border. Unfortunately, the league ended up cancelling the season as the COVID-19 numbers rose during the winter months, leaving Hazlett looking for other options. Now more than one year, later the the team and player are finally ready to hit the field again.
‘It’s been a goal of mine to get the opportunity to play American football in Mexico ever since I started playing ball overseas. I’ve spent the past two years in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen during the off season training, building relationships and immersing myself in the Mexican culture.”
