Marseille Blue Stars overwhelm Catalans Grizzlys in French Elite Division action
The Marseille Blue Stars (3-0) racked up 536 yards of offense this past weekend when they pounded the 0-3 Catalans Grizzlys 59-14 in Marseille, France in the only game on top in the French Federation of American Football Elite Division.
The Blue Stars Canadian quarterback, Kaleb Scott was superb on this day, throwing for 284 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 107 yards and a third score. Backup quarterback Peter Sighr also stepped in completing six of seven passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Gabriel Bisson, named game MVP, was the main target catching nine passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns while Vincent Monteiro caught the third touchdown pass. As a team, Marseille rushed for 194 yards with Florian Angelini adding 48 yards and a touchdown and Florian Monduc 27 and another touchdown. Hadrian Lynda also scored on a 94-yard kick return.
The Blue Stars took control of the game early roaring out to a 24-8 halftime lead, extending it to 37-8 heading into the fourth. That’s when they exploded for another 22 points.
With the win, Marseille moves into first place in the South Conference in France ahead of the Thonon Black Panthers who have played only two games so far.
