Major shifts in Austrian stats leaders as season heads into home stretch
The Austrian Football League is heading into the home stretch and there have been changes aplenty on the stats lists this week.
The league leaders in two of the four categories have seen shifts with Traun Steelsharks QB John Uribe regaining the lead in passing yardage and SonicWall Mödling Rangers WR, Eugen Sumic climbing up two spots to take the lead in receiving yardage.
The SonicWall Mödling Rangers have a league-leading 5 players among the Top 5 in the four categories. The Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants and ASKÖ Traun Steelsharks each have three players while the Danube Dragons, Prague Black Panthers and Dacia Vienna Vikings each have two. The league-leading Swarco Raiders have just one player.
Passing
John Uribe of the Traun Steelsharks has re-taken the passing yardage lead and now has 1,700 yards. Austin Herink of the Dacie Vienna Vikings has climbed from 5th to 2nd after throwing for 388 yards in the Vikings 55-28 win over the Rangers. Swarco Raiders QB Sean Shelton remains in 3rd after completing 24 of 27 passes (!) and throwing for 245 yards in a 28-14 win over the Prague Black Panthers. He now has 1,617 yards.. Giants QB Jake Kennedy has slid from 1st to 4th in passing yardage and now has 1,558 yards and a league best 21 TDs. Danube Dragons QB Chad Jeffries is now 5th with 1,526 yards.
Receiving
SonicWall Mödling Rangers WR, Eugen Sumic has moved up into 1st in the rankings after catching 7 passes for 106 yards and 2 TDs in the loss to the Vikings. He now has 643 yards and a league-best 10 TDs. Traun Steelsharks WR Mario Winter remains 2nd with 640 yards. Dacia Vienna Vikings WR Bernhard Seikovits caught 8 passes for 163 yards and 2 TDs in the Vikings win over the Rangers and is now 3rd with 562 yards. Rangers WR Roman Namdar has dropped to 4th with 562 yards. New on the list is Stefan Kerschbaummayr of the Amstetten Thunder who had 12 receptions for 186 yards and 3 TDs in the Thunder’s loss to the Steelsharks.
Rushing
Prague Black Panthers RB Herbert Gamboa continues to lead all rushers after gaining 124 yards and scoring a TD in Prague’s 28-14 loss to the Swarco Raiders. He has 806 yards. Florian Wegan of the Rangers comes in at 2nd place with 773 after a monster day as he gained 199 yards in his team’s loss to the Vikings. Graz Giants RB Alexander Sanz remains in 3rd with 554 yards while Danube Dragons QB Chad Jeffries is 4th with 486 yards. Florian Nöhmayr of the Steelsharks has moved up into 5th with 443 yards.
Tackles
Mödling Rangers LB Markus Bernas is still the league leader in tackles in the Austrian Football League and now has 53.5 tackles but Graz Giants LB Thomas Schnurrer is creeping closer and now has 53. Prague Black Panthers LB Karel Augusta is 3rd with his 36 tackles while Martin Dorner of the Amstetten Thunder has climbed one spot into 4th with 34 tackles. Newcomer to the list is Rangers LB Markus Greber who now has 31.5 tackles.
