LIVESTREAM Ukrainian Championship: Kiev Capitals vs Lviv Lions, August 22, 16:30 CET (4:30 pm, 10:30 am ET)

The Ukrainian League of American Football’s Super League championship game features the two top teams in the country as the defending champion Kiev Capitals (7-0) will face the Lviv Lions (6-1).

The last time these two teams faced each other in the title game was on October 28, 2018, and the Capitals came out on top on that day, trouncing Lviv 44-6.

The Capitals enter the game undefeated after winning the ULAF East Division with a 6-0 record and then downing the Vinnytsia Wolves 21-18 in the semifinals. The Lions finished with a 5-1 regular-season record in the ULAF West and then whipped the Kharkov Atlantes 55-15 in their semifinal matchup.

Kiev was by far the highest-scoring team in the ULAF averaging 42.5 points on offense while allowing a mere 17 points in six games. Lviv scored 200 points in their six games while giving up 62.

The Capitals are led by quarterback Maxim Cherepivskiy, the top passer in the ULAF. 4 x Ukrainian champion. Cherepivskiy has won the Ukrainian title four times and led his team to the Baltic league title in 2018. His favorite target is Dmitry Serbin, who, at 48, is not only is the oldest player in the league but also the fastest. In the backfield, running back Michael Kulik has made life miserable for opposing defenses all season.

For Lviv, quarterback Markiyan Shekel is the key. He will no doubt target veteran wide receiver A.J. Benson as well as Andrew Svitlak. Running back Jalen Conwell is a constant threat out of the backfield. Defensively, the Lions look to linebackers Severyn Fedyna and Sergey Budilov as well as defensive lineman Andri Laktionov and safety Sam Ivsepian.
