LIVESTREAM: Team USA Faces China in World University Championships
Team USA makes its debut in the 2nd World University Championships in American Football being held in Monterrey, Mexico, facing Team China who is playing its second game in three nights. China was overwhelmed in their opening match against Mexico 74-0.
The United States squad is largely composed of Division III players and will start Reginald Langford (Sterling College) at quarterback. Langford played for the Hamburg Huskies in 2015 in the German top division. The other two quarterbacks in the rotation are Elgin Hilliard Jr (Valdosta State) and Maclane Roche (Carroll College).
China played in the 1st WUC tournament held in Uppsala, Sweden in 2014. Mexico won the tournament, defeating Japan 14-6 in the gold medal game. China did not score a point but the coaching staff, which included former NFL running back Ricky Williams came away with optimism about the future of the game in China.
