The Geneva Seahawks (0-1) will play host to the Basel Gladiators (0-0) Sunday, March 26 as the Swiss League of American Football winds up its second weekend of play.
The Seahawks are coming off a tough 27-13 loss to the Calanda Broncos last week in the opening game of the 2023 season. Meanwhile, for the Gladiators, this is the first matchup of the year.
These two teams faced each other twice in 2022 with Basel coming away with wins both times, 24-7 and 14-3.
Geneva’s Swiss quarterback Benaya Alerini, a homegrown product, leads an offense that struggled last week against the Broncos. Alerini threw for 103 yards while running back Tobia Liparulo was the leading rusher with eight carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.
For the Gladiators, Billy Wallisch (Lawrence University) will be behind center while on defense, Australian defensive lineman Tim Clulow returns for a second season.
