In what could be the most interesting game of the playoff weekend in Sweden, the Örebro Black Knights will play host to the Oslo Vikings in a battle between the fourth and fifth ranked teams in the Superserien.
Örebro won the only encounter between the two teams this season, beating the Vikings 31-19 in Behrn Arena in Örebro in mid April.
However, Oslo has won their last three games after dropping their first four and come into this contest on a roll. The Black Knights have had an up an down season which includes an inexplicable loss to the Limhamn Griffins. However, they have won two of their last three and have looked much improved.
Örebro quarterback Trevor Vasey is the second leading passer in the Superserien after having thrown for 1,877 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has an excellent corps of receivers including Elliot Hammar who had 28 catches for 393 yards and three scores and Johannes Lindéus who had 34 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns. However, the Black Knights offense has suffered due to the lack of a solid run game. As a team they have produced a total of 419 yards rushing with Jonathan Eklund the leading rusher with 222 yards total.
Watch live. Oslo Vikings @ Örebro Black Knights, June 15, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT).
The Vikings passing game has been good as quarterback CJ Fowler has thrown for 1,238 yards and 15 touchdowns with his main targets being Matthew Snawder with 22 catches for 495 yards and eight touchdowns, and Niklas Fengler who had 26 catches for 282 yards. The Oslo ground game could be a deciding factor with Rune Nilsen the leading rusher. He has rushed for 393 yards and three touchdowns.
However, Örebro has the league’s best defense against the run allowing just 63.9 yards a game.
This game will no doubt be decided in the trenches.
