LIVESTREAM Sweden: Tyresö Royal Crowns @ Örebro Black Knights, June 10, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)
With two games left in the Swedish Superserien regular season, the Tyresö Royal Crowns will pay a visit to Behrn Arena in Örebro to take on the winless Örebro Black Knights.
This is the second meeting between these two teams this year. The Royal Crowns whipped Örebro in the first encounter, 41-6. The Black Knights had opened the season with a 48-12 loss to Stockholm and following the Tyresö game dropped a 28-21 decision to the Carlstad Crusaders (after holding a 13-0 halftime lead) and then were beaten 30-26 by the Mean Machines.
The Royal Crowns had opened the season by beating Carlstad 33-7 before the win over the Black Knights. They then lost 31-13 to Stockholm before beating up on the Crusaders again, 39-0.
While the Black Knights’ star quarterback Trevor Vasey, struggled early, he has improved and is now the second leading passer in terms of yardage averaging 200 yards a game over four games. He has thrown eight touchdown passes, three of them to leading receiver, Johannes Lindeus, who has 15 receptions for 293 yards. His brother Jesper is not far behind with 10 catches for 228 yards and four scores. Örebro will need the run game to improve though in this game. Running back Kasper Wedberg has rushed for 213 yards so far in four games, good for third in the league but without a touchdown.
The Black Knights defense has to find a way to slow down the Tyresö offense. So far, Örebro has surrendered an average of 36.5 points a game and they will be facing the highest scoring team in the league. The Royal Crowns are scoring at a rate of 31.5 points a game.
The Tyresö offense is run by quarterback Hamish McClure who leads the league in rushing with 239 yards on 30 carries while throwing for 683 yards (third best in Sweden) and 10 touchdowns. His top receiver, Edvin Almeida is second in the league with 1 7 catches, for 308 yards and five touchdowns. Royal Crowns running back Oliver Coleman is the second leading rusher behind McClure with 38 carries for 231 yards and a score. But he did not play in the most recent win over Carlstad as Emil Knutsson took his place.
The Black Knights are a much-improved team as they have shown in their last two contests and could definitely surprise Tyresö.
