LIVESTREAM: Sweden – Stockholm Mean Machines @Göteborg Marvels, May 26, 3p (9a EST)

The Stockholm Mean Machines (2-3) head across Sweden to Gothenburg to face the 1-3 Göteborg Marvels in a must win game for both teams in the Swedish Superserien.

The two teams met in the opening game of the season with Stockholm coming out on top 30-22. In that one, Mean Machines quarterback Anders Hermodsson completed 13 of 22 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another 41 and a touchdown. Running back Emil Knutsson had 23 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown while receivers Michael Retzlaff and  Damien Scannella each caught a touchdown pass. Retzlaff had seven catches for 105 yards while Scannella recorded three receptions for 48.

Jonathan Andersson from the Marvels threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns with his main target, Oscar Wahlberg, hauling in six passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. Edvin Almeida Taborda caught two passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. 

Hermodsson is second in passing yardage  in Sweden after five games with  1,057  yards. The Marvels running back Gerard Johnson is actually the fifth leading passer so far having replaced Jonathan Anderson in many games. He has thrown for 407 yards.

Although Retzlaff leads the league with 518 yards, he was held without a catch last week against Carlstad and should the Marvels employ the same tactic this week with single coverage from defensive back Alpha Jalloh he might have difficulty again. Nevertheless, Knutsson is the top rusher in Sweden so this game may well be decided on the line of scrimmage. Jalloh has also  proven dangerous as a running back for Göteborg with Johnson behind center.

The winner of this game will definitely have a leg up in the battle for the final playoff spot.
