The Örebro Black Knights (1-1) travel to the south of Sweden to square off against the Limhamn Griffins (0-1) in the third weekend of play in the Swedish Superserien.
Limhamn were trounced 44-14 by the Stockholm Mean Machines to open the season while the Black Knights are coming off a 31-19 defeat of the Oslo Vikings after losing to Stockholm 39-18.
Limhamn quarterback Samuel Jämthammar threw for just 70 yards in the loss to the Mean Machines and will have another tough defense to face today. Alfred Jennfors and Olof Nilsson caught two passes each for 23 and 22 yards respectively to lead the Griffins while running back Alexander Nesic had nine carries for 46 yards. Defensively, the Griffins secondary will need to step up as they will be facing the leading passer in the league, Trevor Vasey.
In total, the Griffins could only produce 100 yards in total offense against Stockholm.
For the Black Knights, Trevor Vasey has thrown for 623 yards and five touchdowns in the two games. The 6’6″, 220 pound Vasey has several targets including Elliot Hammar, the league’s top receiver with 162 yards and Anton Enkvist who is #2 with 150 yards. While the aerial game is excellent for the Black Knights, their leading rusher has been Jonathan Eklund who has a league-high 21 carries but for only 54 yards.
This will likely be a very long afternoon for the home team Griffins. The Örebro offense, particularly in the air, will put the Limhamn defense to the test.
