The Tyresö Royal Crowns (1-1) will play host to the Limhamn Griffins (1-2) Saturday, May 4, as the Swedish Superserien winds up its fifth weekend of play.
The last time these two teams met was in 2017 when Limhamn came away with a 41-20 victory.
Tyresö opened the season by downing Norway’s Oslo Vikings 56-37 but then dropped a tough 24-21 decision to the Calrstad Crusaders. The Griffins were beaten 44-14 by the Stockholm Mean Machines to start the season but then stunned with league with a solid 31-23 win over the Örebro Black Knights. Last week, they suffered their second loss of the year after being defeated 15-8 by AIK.

Royal Crowns quarterback Jared Heywood has been steady throwing for 473 yards and eight touchdowns. Receiver Kevin Börzsei has been tough on opposing secondaries with 11 receptions for231 yards and three touchdowns while teammate Edvin Almeida has eight catches for 115 yards and three scores. Running back Vilgot Valeskog, star of Sweden’s junior team, has rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
For the Griffins, quarterback Samuel Jämthammar has thrown for 352 yards and one touchdown in the three games with Olof Nilsson his favorite target with 192 yards and two touchdowns receiving on 12 catches. Running back Alexander Nesic has rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown making him the league’s third leading rusher.
With the Royal Crowns playing at home, this would seem to be a secure win for them but Limhamn has already pulled off one upset on the road this season.
