LIVESTREAM Sweden PPV: Carlstad Crusaders @ Stockholm Mean Machines, Aug. 22, 15:00 CET (9:00 ET)

This weekend the Superserien kicks off in Sweden. This year the league will feature only four teams and a six-game regular season. Week 1 will see the defending champion Stockholm Mean Machines hosting the Carlstad Crusaders in a rematch of the 2019 title game which Stockholm won 49-35.

2019 was a great season for the Stockholm Mean Machines, but this season will feature some new faces with the same goal. Stockholm has added a plethora of talent from around Europe. Starting at quarterback will be veteran Timothy Morovick. Morovick has had success in multiple countries in Europe, including winning the polish title in 2017. He is a mobile quarterback who can give defenses headaches with his arm or his legs. A key target for Morovick will be Danish receiver Ben von Jagow who last played for the Triangle Razorbacks. Another big signing for Stockholm is British offensive tackle Keanu Ebanks. Ebanks was an NFL and CFL combine invite after two outstanding seasons with the Hildesheim Invaders. Ebanks thoughts on the first game of the season.

“We are going to have to win at the line of scrimmage and in the box. Carlstad’s defensive line and linebackers are solid players and fly around. If we handle them we will finish with the W.”

Defensively Stockholm will return their national team defensive lineman Gogi Vasic who will be a disruptive force for opposing offenses. Joining Vasic will be two German defenders defensive back Paul Seifert from the Berlin Rebels and linebacker Leon Littfinski from the Cologne Crocodiles.

For the Carlstad Crusaders they will be heading into the season with Danny Farley at quarterback. Farley spent the last two season playing in the GFL2 for the Solingen Paladins. Farley threw for 26 touchdowns and 3026 yards, and 15 interceptions in 14 games with the Paladins. Farley is excited for his opportunity in Carlstad:

I want to build relationships and bring everyone on to the same page. I just can’t wait to get back and onto the field again with these guys.”

The Crusaders also return safety Daniel Gunnarsson a talented Swedish player who spent the last few seasons playing for San Francisco City College in the US. Two other new faces will be Felix Sencar a German linebacker and British defender Eddie Onamede. Onamede is a young defensive back who last played for the Potsdam Royals. It will be interesting to see how these new faces can blend and become part of the Crusaders team.

Both teams are ready to go after an all too long off season. The Swedish Superserien will feature a lot of new faces from all over the world because of the cancellation of other leagues, this should be an injection of talent into a league that already is known for its good domestic players. This week matchup will show both of those talents as it could be preview of the 2020 championship game
