The surprising Limhamn Griffins (1-1) will host AIK (0-1) in Sweden’s Superserien Saturday, April 27.

Limhamn stunned observers a week ago by upsetting the heavily favored Örebro Black Knights 31-23 at home in Limhamn. They had been trounced 44-14 by the Stockholm Mean Machines to open the season. AIK gave up a late touchdown plus the two-point conversion to the Kristianstad Predators in their first game of the season last week to lose 21-20.

Limhamn quarterback Samuel Jämthammar has thrown for just 230 yards in the two games but will have an easier task today possibly. Olof Nilsson has eight catches for 133 yards two touchdowns to lead the Griffins while running back Alexander Nesic has rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown making him the league’s second leading rusher.

AIK signal caller Carl Viktor Ekberg threw for 120 yards and a touchdown in that opening game with receiver Oliver Langlais as his favorite target with four receptions for 59 yards. Running back Edgar Wallén was a workhorse with 17 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. Expect AIK to keep the ball on the ground today as well.

Defensively, veteran linebacker Joshua Akena anchored the defense and racked up 12.5 tackles.

This game is a toss up. AIK played well enough to win last week against Kristianstad while the Griffins will be feeling confident after their standout performance against Örebro last week.
