The Las Rozas Black Demons head to Coslada, Spain to face the Coslada Camioneros in the Spanish League of American Football semifinals Saturday, May 11.
Coslada defeated the Mallorca Voltors in one quarterfinal, 21-13 while Las Rozas outduelled the Valencia Firebats in a shootout, beating them 63-40..
In their playoff game, the Camioneros relied on their defense, tops in the league during the regular season, and the legs of running back Oscar Zazo, to defeat the Mallorca Voltors 21-13 in the quarterfinal round. Zazo scored all three touchdowns for Coslada in a game which was dominated by both defenses
For Las Rozas, Game MVP quarterback Trenton Jones, threw six touchdown passes and scored another one on the ground while running back Marcos de la Mata rushed for one score and scored another on a pass. Wide receiver Jesús Pérez hauled in three touchdown passes while Sergio Condés and Ignacio Ortiz had one each.
The Black Demons have the second leading offense in Spain scoring 448 points during the regular season and playoffs so far. Meanwhile, Coslada boasts the top defense next to the Badalona Dracs having surrendered just 8.7 points a game.
This will be a great game to watch.
