In what may very well be the biggest game in the Spanish National League of American Football in the 2024 season, two powerhouse squads meet in the first round of the finals. One one side ,the defending champions, the Las Rozas Black Demons who finished the regular season with a 7-1 record take on the only team to leave the Spanish regular season with an unblemished record in the 8-0 Badalona Dracs.
The Dracs are currently on a tear, obviously there season has been perfect in the win column but going into the playoffs Badalona has pitched a shutout in three of their last five games with one of those being a 41-0 victory over the other playoff team in the East, the L’Hospitalet Pioners. The team boasts a ferocious attack averaging 43.3 points a game.
Dracs superlative wide receiver/kick returner Alpha Jalloh:
“We’ve been waiting all season for the playoffs. The Black Demons are the first team that is standing in the way of our season goal. Nothing more to say.”
The Black Demons have had a great season. With the Osos Rivas also in their division it is hard to split the two western teams as their 2024 record against each other stands at 1-1 with the Black Demons winning 10-6 in the first game and the Osos taking the second game 28-21 and with in the top seed in the west. The Black Demons Canadian signal caller, Theo Landers, currently sits on 14 passing touchdowns and seven rushing as well.
Theo Landers:
“I’m excited to play the Dracs, they are a team that I didn’t have the chance to play last year. I’m very confident in our team and game plan. I feel as though we have prepared well and we have the right guys to get the job done.”
The last time these two teams met was in 2021 where they faced off a total of three times that season with the Dracs winning two out of three of those matchups.
For the first time in a long time, the Black Demons aren’t going into a game as the favorites. Instead, they will have to climb up a steep mountain if they wish to get a shot to reclaim their title as champions of Spain. The Dracs are looking to claim the crown for the first time since 2021.
