The Badalona Dracs, defending and nine-time Spanish champions, will be taking on 2018 semifinalists, Las Rozas Black Demons in the final of the Spanish Cup at Pedro Escartín Stadium in Guadalajara.
The Dracs defeated the Black Demons in the 2017 Spanish Cup final by a score of 26-7.
To reach the final, Badalona beat the Gijón Mariners 47-10 while Las Rozas downed the Coslada Camioneros 21-7.
Badalona will be rely on quarterback Sergi Gonzalo who threw five touchdown passes in the semifinal win over the Mariners. Gonzalo has led the Dracs to back-to-back Spanish titles and is accustomed to the pressure of big games. His favorite targets include tight end Raul Cernuda, who scored three touchdowns in the semifinals, and newly-signed wide receiver Jordi Rúa who has moved over from the Malloca Voltors. Running back Edu Morlans scored a touchdown in the semifinals and will create problems for the Black Demons defense. Wide receiver Jordi Rúa also scored for Badalona in the semifinals.
The Black Demons are led by Alejandro Álvarez at quarterback who had 121 yards passing in the semifinal victory. He also scored on a spectacular 90 yard run. Wide receiver Carlos García and running back Marcos de la Mata are two of the weapons Álvarez can rely on. Each scored touchdowns in the semifinals and de la Mata had over 100 yards rushing.
