The Badalona Dracs will be looking to capture their fourth straight Spanish title and 10th overall when they take on the Las Rozas Black Demons in Spanish Bowl XXV, Saturday May 11.
This will be Badalona’s 17th trip to the Spanish final while the Black Demons are playing in the title game for the first time in their history.
Badalona advanced to the final after beating the Murcia Cobras 40-20 in the semifinals. They had shut out the Zaragoza Hurricanes 49-0 in the quarterfinals. Las Rozas road to the championship game went through the Valencia Firebats who they beat 63-40 in the quarterfinals and then the Coslada Camioneros in the semifinals who they defeated 33-13.
On paper, this is a no-brainer to predict. Badalona QB Hunter Correll leads an offense that is averaging 52 points a game while the defense has been giving up just 7.3. His top receiver, Guillem García led the league in scoring. Another key to the Dracs offense is WR Taylor Ekström. Linebacker Terrell Woods leads a solid defense which also includes Jorge Hernández, Jorge Ruiz and Felipe Archila.
For Las Rozas, quarterback Trenton Jones, has thrown 10 touchdown passes in the playoffs so far scored another two on the ground. His receivers include Evan Altizer who had three touchdown receptions in the semifinal win while Jesús Pérez hauled in three in the quarterfinal win. Running back Marcos de la Mata is also dangerous and rushed for one score and scored another on a pass in the quarterfinals.
The Black Demons have the second leading offense in Spain behind the Dracs, scoring 448 points during the regular season and playoffs so far.
This is the matchup that everyone in Spain want to see. The two top offensive teams in the country squaring off against each other.
