LIVESTREAM Spain: Zaragoza Hurricanes @ Murcia Cobras, Jan. 30, 17:00 CET (11:00 ET)
After the long break filled with holidays, historic snowstorms and of course the pandemic, the Murcia Cobras (0-1) are finally back, and this week they host the 0-2 Zaragoza Hurricanes.
Zaragoza is one of only two teams that have played so far since mid December.
For the Cobras, their lopsided 33-7 loss to the Mallorca Voltors back on December 13th was not the way they wanted to start the season. Look for quarterback Robert Cuda to use his legs more in order to put up some points this week. Coach Alejandro Sotomayor also used the holiday break to make some personnel moves, beefing up his team’s line adding British defensive lineman Deon Mutsvanemoto, and Swedish offensive lineman Rasmus Johansson. Mutsvanemoto has good size at 300 pounds and solid experience playing for the Dusseldorf Panthers in Germany and Finland’s Seinäjoki Crocodiles in 2019. Look for the big Brit to be collapsing the pocket from the nose tackle position. Johansson is a 300 pound lineman who has played in France (Catalans Grizzlys), Finland (Kuovola Indians), Australia (North Sydney Rebels) and his home country of Sweden (Tyresö Royal Crowns, Stockholm Mean Machines).
Newest Cobra Deon Mutsvanemoto on the matchup:
“Everyone here at the Cobras are putting in the work in practices and preparations, We have a talented roster, If we play with discipline and belief we can compete and get the victory over the champs.”
Zaragoza lost two weeks ago to the Mallorca Voltors 35-13 with the defense struggling against Mallorca’s dynamic passing offense. However the Hurricanes offense showed promise. The addition of quarterback Dustin Hawke Willingham will pay off this season as he learns to mesh with his new team. Look for dynamic speedster Denzel Duchenne to make some this Saturday as he was almost the gamebreaker for his team two weeks ago scoring two long touchdowns that were unfortunately for him called back due to a penalty.
Hurricanes lineman Carlos Romero is looking forward to this matchup:
“We have been working hard this last month, it was seen in the match against Mallorca. We are a strong team with the ability to achieve victory and we are going from less to more, we know that we are faced with a great team but we are all going to take the victory. We’ll need a solid defense and an attack that runs well.”
Both of these teams are hungry for a win, its been a long break from football for the Cobras an they have invested in imports to make them a playoff team in the Spanish Series A. The same goes for the Zaragoza Hurricanes.
This is a chance for both of these teams to get a win, gain some confidence.
