LIVESTREAM: Spain – Valencia Firebats @Badalona Dracs, Sunday, March 3, 11:30a CEST (5:30a EST)
The defending champion and undefeated Badalona Dracs (4-0) are at home for the second weekend in a row as they play host to the 2-2 Valencia Firebats in Spanish League of American Football action Sunday, March 3.
This is the second meeting of the year between these two teams. Badalona overwhelmed the Firebats in the season’s opening weekend 46-12.
The Dracs have opened the 2019 campaign in impressive fashion. In beating the Firebats, Zaragoza Hurricanes (54-0), Mallorca Voltors (48-7) and Murcia Cobras (49-26), the Dracs have outscored their opponents 197-45. Quarterback Hunter Correll has thrown 22 touchdown passes with Taylor Ekström being one of his main targets. Linebacker Terrell Woods leads a formidable defense which also includes Jorge Hernández, Jorge Ruiz and Felipe Archila.
Valencia opened the year with a disappointing, lopsided 46-12 loss to Badalona but rebounded to edge Mallorca 14-13 and the Zaragoza Hurricanes 27-0. However, they were shut out last week 18-0 by the Coslada Camioneros and have fallen to sixth in the 12 team league. Veteran quarterback Fernando Altarriba (6 TD passes) will be faced with a daunting task against one of the top defenses in Spain.
