The Mallorca Voltors (1-0) will hit the road Saturday, January 25 to face the L’Hospitalet Pioners (0-2) as the Spanish National American League of Football heads into its third weekend of action.
The Voltors are coming off an upset win over the Badalona Dracs last week after beating them 24-22. The Pioners have dropped their two opening games first losing to the Dracs 42-14 and then being edged by the newcomers, the Terrassa Reds, 19-16.
These two teams faced each other twice in 2024 splitting the series. The Voltors won the first game 13-7 at home while L’Hospitalet took the second 41-21.
For the Pioners, quarterback Daniel Viger who scored one touchdown last week and running back Walter Jublawi who scored the other, are the keys. Mallorca quarterback quarterback Diego Lliteras tossed two touchdown passes in last week’s win over Badalona, one each to Matías Rojas and Gabriel Quigley while linebacker Fa’avae Fa’avae scored on a 75 yard fumble recovery.
Although the Pioners have opened with season with two straight losses, they have homefield advantage.
