The division leading and unbeaten Las Rozas Black Demons travel across Madrid to face arch rivals, Osos Rivas in a battle for top spot in the West conference as Spain’s Liga Nacional de Fútbol Americano heads into the home stretch.
Osos Rivas only defeat this season was a 10-6 loss to arch rivals the Black Demons. Otherwise the Madrid based squad rolled over the Alcobendas Cavaliers twice, 34-6 and 47-0, handed the Coslada Camioneros a 48-0 beatdown and blanked the Gijon Mariners 39-0.
The Black Demons have opened the season with six straight wins, five of them lopsided after beating the Coslada Camioneros twice, 35-6 and 58-13, the Alcobendas Cavaliers 36-7 and 44-13, and the Gijon Mariners 49-7. In between they edged Osos Rivas 10-6.
For Osos Rivas, quarterback Russell Tabor has been outstanding this season and leads the league in touchdown passes with 19 while he has added four more on the ground. His receiving corps of Ángel Marín, Daniel Salazar, Eduardo Pérez and José Pablo Olivares are all enjoying excellent seasons thanks to Tabor’s arm.
Black Demons quarterback Theo Landers has tossed 11 touchdown passes so far this season, second in the league behind Tabor. He has also rushed for another four and is always dangerous. Gonzalo Haro has caught six touchdown passes and teammate Dominic Coffman five ranking them second and third in Spain this year.
This is a clash of the top two quarterbacks in the league and with Osos Rivas playing at home, this will definitely be a battle with first place on the line.
