The Murcia Cobras (2-2) face another tough test Saturday, March 2 when they play host to the unbeaten Las Rozas Black Demons (4-0) at Campo de Futbol Jose Barnes field in Murcia, Spain.
The Black Demons won the first encounter between the two teams this year, a 41-6 shellacking of Murcia in the opening game of the season.
Since then, the Cobras, 2018 finalists in the Spanish American Football League, have alternated between outright domination with lopsided wins over the Granada Lions, 48-0 and Fuengirola Potros 41-0. and embarrassment. They were overwhelmed by the Badalona Dracs 49-26 last week.
Las Rozas have looked impressive in their four victories. After the win over the Cobras, they have rolled over the Potros 64-8, the Granada Lions 49-0 and the Santiago Black Ravens 68-0. They have outscored the opposition 222-14.
In the loss to Badalona last week, the Cobras held their own for two and a half quarters pulling to within 28-20 before the Dracs took over. Cobras quarterback Adam Salvadori threw two touchdown passes to Cory Holmes and ran for another.
The Black Demons offense was of full display last week in their win over Santiago. American receiver Evan Altizer hauled in three touchdown passes while Nacho Ortiz had two as did running back Marcos de la Mata.
While Murcia has looked much better since that opening game loss to the Black Demons, it could be a long evening unless Salvadori and Holmes can make a difference.
