LIVE STREAM: Spain – Granada Lions @ Murcia Cobras Sat. Feb. 10 5p (11a EST)
The undefeated Murcia Cobras (3-0) will play host to the winless Granada Lions (0-2) in Spanish American Football League Group B action Saturday in Murcia.
The Lions are taking the three hour bus ride to Murcia, a university town in southeastern Spain, knowing full well they will have their hands full. The Cobras pushed the mighty Badalona Dracs in the 2017 Spanish semifinal and have looked impressive so far this season in rolling to three straight wins. Murcia has easily handled the Alicante Sharks (53-0) and Valencia Giants (45-18) and managed to get by the Coslada Camioneros 16-13.
Meanwhile, Granada, new to the top league in Spain, have dropped two games to the Camioneros (38-0) and Valencia Giants (22-0).
The Cobras will relay on quarterback Jordan Perry (Northern Arizona University, NCAA div. I) and his former Northern Arizona teammate wide receiver Alex Holmes. If Perry can’t play (he suffered an injury in last week’s game against Valencia), his place will be taken by Ángel Clemente, who filled in for him in the win against the Giants.
The Cobras remain one of four unbeaten teams so far in Spain in 2018. The 2-0 Badalona Dracs and 2-0 Valencia Firebats lead Group A while Las Rozas Black Demons lead Group C with a 3-0 record.
