The Spanish National League of American Football, LNFA (Liga Nacional de Fútbol Americano) hits the midway point of the season with the Gijon Mariners heading to Madrid to face the Alcobendas Cavaliers in a battle of the winless.

In a game between the only two winless teams in the LNFA, the Mariners and Cavaliers will tangle on Saturday.  After dropping a tough 28-14 decision to the Coslada Camioneros in their opening game, Alcodendas suffered a pair of lopsided losses to Osos Rivas (38-0) and Las Rozas Black Demons (48-0). Meanwhile, Gijon were beaten 16-3 by Osos and 56-14 by the Black Demons before losing 21-14 to the Camioneros.

For the Cavaliers, quarterback David Yu will have to find a way to spark an offensive squad that has no import players and has scored 14 points in three games.  This will be a tall order against a Mariners team that has added a pair of imports.

Mariners Mexican quarterback Sergio Cebado, is a dual threat passer and the addition of running back Irvin Riley (Jacksonville University) to the lineup, gives Gijon an added boost. The Mariners held their own against Osos Rivas and were close to knocking off Coslada so expect them to give the home team a tough time today.
