The Fuengirol Potros (1-4), fresh off their first win of the year last week, will travel to Madrid to take on the unbeaten Osos Rivas (6-0) as the Spanish National League of American Football heads into its seventh round of play.
The team from Madrid has been unbeatable so far this year. Last week, they downed the Las Rozas Black Demons for the second time, this time by a score of 36-12. They started the year by blanking the Cobras 35-0 and had no trouble with the Mariners, beating them 34-17. They got by the Black Demons 16-13 and then whipped the Potros 41-0 and the Mariners 34-3, and sit firmly in first place in the LNFA West division.
The Fuengirola Potros recorded their first victory of the season last week in beating the Murcia Cobras 18-14. They had opened the season losing to the same Cobras 47-14 and then proceeded to lose the next three, 30-27 to the Gijon Mariners, 41-0 in their first matchup against Osos Rivas and then 48-13 to the Black Demons.
Osos quarterback Rodney Brown threw three touchdown passes in the first game against the Potros and will no doubt be tough to stop today. His main targets are Alejandro Tizón and Atsushi Uehiro and with running back Alejandro Vaquero and the versatile David Giron in the backfield, Brown has plenty of weapons.
Potros running back José Luís López scored two touchdowns last week in the win over Murcia and will be looking to improve on that today. Quarterback Carlos Chaves also scored and has rushed for 263 yards so far this season to lead the team and can be dangerous.
Still, on paper, this looks like a tough assignment for Fuengirola.
