With the Badalona Dracs idle this weekend, the Reus Imperials will take on the defending champion Valencia Firebats looking for their first win of the season. The Valencia Giants are also in the same situation and need a win against the Barbera Rookies.to climb out of the winless column.
The Giants-Rookies game will be streamed live.
Reus Imperials (0-2) – Valencia Firebats (2-1)
The Reus Imperials will be looking to end their two-game winless streak this Sunday and capture their first victory of the young Spanish season. After losing 29-26 to the Barbera Rookies two weeks ago despite holding a 20-0 lead in the first half, the Imperials desperately need a victory.
Head Coach Bart Iaccarino is aware that a win against the Firebats would be a great morale booster for his team. The chemistry between quarterback Allan Bridgford and receiver Vailele Peko is a key to the Reus offense and they were the main reason for the huge first half lead versus the Rookies.
The Firebats need the win just as badly after losing to the Badalona Dracs 38-13. Although they are 2-1, this game is crucial if they are going to stay in the hunt. Valencia quarterback Thomas Murphy has also built a connection with his own receiving corps, including Alejandro Silvestre and Josh Helmcamp. At running back Hector Pertegaz is a key.
Valencia Giants (0-2) – Barbera Rookies (1-1)
The Valencia Giants host the Rookies in a game that the Giants desperately need to win. They have been blanked in both their games and head coach Jeffrey Roy is looking for offensive answers. Quarterback Cody Enman has had an extra week to work on his timing with the offense and that should make a difference. However, they are facing a dangerous opponent in Barbera.
Head coach Teo Polanco’s squad has been a surprise so far. Despite falling behind 20-0 early to the Imperials, they found a way to rally and win the game 29-26. They barely lost to the Firebats in their opener. Quarterback Michael Van Deripe and receiver Tim Pape have forged a bond it seems and the Rookies have added reinforcements on defense. Mexican defensive lineman Ulises García has joined the club and could make a big difference. He was a member of the 2014 world championship Mexican university all-star team.
