The undefeated Las Rozas Black Demons (2-0) will play host to the winless Alcobendas Cavaliers (0-2) February 4 as the Spanish National League of American Football heads into its fourth weekend of action.
These two teams have never faced each other before. This is the first season that the Cavaliers have played in Spain’s top division.
The Black Demons, runners up in 2022, won their opening game of the season by beating the Coslada Camioneros 14-7 and followed that up with a historic victory as they defeated the defending champions, Osos Rivas, 3-2, in the lowest scoring game in the top division ever. Alcobendas, who were promoted to the elite division for the first time ever this year, lost to Coslada 28-14 and then were shut out 38-0 by Osos Rivas.
Las Rozas relies on Canadian quarterback Theo Landers who is still trying to find his rhythm and has yet to throw a touchdown pass. Still, he and the Black Demons offense have generated yardage between the 20 yard lines and could explode against the Cavaliers. Running back Daniel Romero has accounted for the only touchdown score by the offense this year and will be a key today.
Alcobendas will need to find their road legs quickly in this game. Cavaliers quarterback David Yu threw a touchdown pass in the loss to the Camioneros but also was picked off which led to a touchdown. He will need to gain more consistency to have a chance today.
