Alcobendas Cavaliers will make their debut this season taking on familiar opponents in the Coslada Camioneros. Both teams were recently promoted to the NFA Serie A after battling against each other in Serie B last season. Now they look to earn their win against tough competition in the early part of their season.
The Coslada Camioneros lost a hard-fought game last week against 2022 runner-up LG OLED Black Demons 14-7. Mexican quarterback Hector Hernandez leads the Camioneros offense along with veteran wide receiver MJ Williams (Copenhagen Towers). If these two can continue to build on their connection, they could make this Camioneros offense one to look out for.
On defense Coslada played very well against the powerhouse Black Demons holding them to only 14 points. Look for Serbian linebacker Peter Stevanak and his Spanish teammates to play well again today against a Cavaliers team making their season debut.
Coach Michael Wood, a former multiple-time Italian Bowl Champion with the Milano Seamen takes over as the Cavaliers defensive coordinator on head coach Ignacio Pliego’s staff. Pliego’s led the Cavaliers to a Serie B title last season and now brings his team back to the LNFA Serie for the first time in 30 years.
Quarterback David Yu will lead a homegrown squad that has no import players into their season debut with a core of returning veteran players. One indicator of their upcoming season is that Cavaliers reached the semi-finals in December’s Spanish Cup (No import tournament).
