The Kragujevac Wild Boars (7-1) and SBB Vukovi Belgrade (7-1) clash in Serbian Bowl XIX, Saturday, July 6 at FK Rakovica.
This is the third straight year that these two teams have faced each other in the title game. The Wild Boars beat Vukovi in 2023 48-7 after the Belgrade squad won the 2022 championship by defeating Kragujevac 24-17.
This is the third meeting between these two this season as well. The Wild Boars won the first game 21-10 but Belgrade got their revenge later with a 56-14 victory.
The Wild Boars reached the final after an impressive 55-6 win over the Belgrade Blue Dragons. Vukovi were also easy winners in their semifinal, whipping the Kikinda Mammoths 59-7.
Wild Boars quarterback Corey Fields (South Carolina State) runs an offense that averaged 38.4 points a game in the nine games including the playoff win. With running back Aphonso Thomas (SMU) in the backfield, this offense is tough to stop. Defensively, Kragujevac is led by veteran Milorad Novaković.
For Vukovi, quarterback Ryan Barebe (Seton Hill University) is the key. He led the team to the 2022 title and is looking for another championship today. His receiving corps of Ivan Klarić, Dimitrije Obradinović and Aleksa Stjepanović will put the Wild Boars secondary to the test. Davion Young is an exciting running back.
Defensively, veteran linemen Miloš Janković and Uroš Kolaković anchor the front seven.
This will be a battle that will go down to the wire. There is no love lost between these two teams. Since 2011, Vukovi has won the title seven times and the Wild Boars five.
