Following a one week delay in the opening of the 2018 season in Serbia, the stage is set for a huge matchup as the SBB Vukovi Belgrade travel to Kragujevac to face arch rivals and defending and back-to-back Serbian champions, the Kragujevac Wild Boars at Čika Dača Stadium in Kragujevac.
In the only meeting between these two teams in 2017 in Serbia, the Wild Boars prevailed in a thriller, 21-14. Vukovi reached the Serbian semifinals but were eliminated by the Novi Sad Dukes 33-7.
These two teams have been the powerhouses of the league for the past 15 years. Since 2004 they have won a combined 15 titles between them with Vukovi having an 8-7 edge.
Under new head coach Malik Jackson, Vukovi has added quarterback Khari Vercher and wide receiver Josh Hartigan.
Jackson was the head coach of the Carlstad Crusaders when they won both the Swedish championship in 2015 and the Champions League title, beating Vukovi in the final in Belgrade.
Championship winning quarterback Dalton Oliver has returned to the Wild Boars who also signed Brazilian national team cornerback Andrew Bernardini as well as running back Joshua Quezada.
This will be the ideal game to kick off the 2018 season in Serbia.
