The Badalona Dracs could face their stiffest test this Sunday, March 13 in Spain as they square off against the Barbera Rookies in a game which promises fireworks.
Nevertheless, the 3-0 Dracs enter the game as favorites after dominating in their three previous games. Quarterback Mike Box will face his Rookies counterpart Michael Van Deripe for the first time this year with both quarterbacks playing at a high level. Expect an entertaining matchup.
Barbera Rookies (2-1) – Badalona Dracs (3-0)
The two best offenses in Spain face off as Rookies head coach Teo Polanco schemes to beat a formidable Dracs team. Badalona has racked up 153 points on offense while allowing only 31 in three games, both best in Spain. The Rookies have scored 89 points in their three games giving up only 21 points per game, both second-best in Spain.
Barbera has faced pressure but found ways to win while Badalona has waltzed through all three games. The quarterback matchup will be fun to watch. Both Box and Van Deripe are playing extremely well. Dracs head coach Oscar Calatayud has his charges playing at the highest level in three years.
On paper, the Badalona team has more options offensively, with the arrival this year of receivers Drew Clausen and Rob Jackson. Joan Carles Bartraand has proven to be a highly versatile player for Badalona along with running back racing Javi Fernández.
For the Rookies, German receiver Tim Pape is the go-to receiver for Van Deripe with Camil Canet carrying the ball very well.
