The Bucharest Rebels (4-1) and Timisoara 89ers (4-1) will face each other Saturday, June 15 in RoBowl X at Emilian Pavel Arena in Giroda, Romania.
This is the second straight trip to the title game for the Rebels. They lost in 2018 to the Cluj Crusaders 10-0. The 89ers are returning to the final for the first time since 2014 when they lost to the Rebels 18-12.
These two teams met in the first round of the Romanian season and Timisoara came away with a 29-20 win.
After that though, Bucharest rolled through the rest of the league winning four in a row, averaging 36 points a game. Head coach and quarterback Stan Bedwell has the offense humming and will be tough to stop. In five games, he threw for 1,321 yards and 24 touchdowns. WR Bogdan Brindusa led the league in reception yardage with 609 yds and 11 TDs. Other keys to the Rebels are linebacker Rashad Dillard (Troy) who led the league in tackles and DB Kurtis Ovesen (Marshall).
Timisoara’s only loss was a 21-0 shutout at the hands of the Cluj Crusaders early in the season. They avenged that loss by beating Cluj 15-9 to wrap up the regular season. Quarterback Charles Babb has thrown for 847 yards and 13 touchdowns for the 89ers. Linebacker Jeron Jones also doubles as a running back and Wildcat quarterback and bears watching out for. He led the league in rushing.
This one is a toss up although the way the Rebels finished the season, they get a slight edge.
