LIVESTREAM ROMANIA: Bucharest Rebels vs Mures Monsters, November 27th, 12 CET (12 noon, 6 AM ET)
After a wild season of football in Romania only two teams remain. This year’s Ro Bowl XI championship game features the defending champion Bucharest Rebels up against the Mures Monsters.
Today’s championship game will also feature a pre game show hosted by league commentators Florin Cojanu and Victor Vlădăreanu one hour prior to kickoff.
These two teams met twice in the regular season with the Rebels claiming both victories.
The Rebels offense is led by quarterback Aaron Ellis. The former ELF passer has been able to find fellow ELF alumni Joc Crawford and Alpha Jalloh often throughout the season. Look for homegrown receivers Radu Ene and Dan Marcu as the two have put up eight combined touchdowns. The Rebels may have the advantage in the trenches today as linemen Rares Gheorghiu and Codrin Cuciurean are two massive offensive tackles listed at 6‘9 each. “The team feels great and focused. These guys have worked extremely hard all season and we know the job isn’t finished yet. We are locked in and ready to fight for this championship”‘

Defensively, Bucharest also features size and strength at the line of scrimmage. Nose tackle Minhea Buduru has the quickness and force to be disruptive all day long. At the defensive end spots, the Rebels take the phrase “football is family“ to heart as Edi Baritz and his son Robert look to slow down a dangerous Monsters offense. Yet tackling machine Matt Barret is the key to the unit, as the 6’1″, 230-pound linebacker leads the league in tackles. The former St. Norbert College Green Knight (NCAA D3) has been flying to the ball week in and week out. Assistant coach Marianne Pahkala should help put Barret and the Rebels defense slow down a talented Mures offense.
Ukrainian quarterback Maxim Cherepivskiy carries the Monsters’ offense into the championship game. The veteran is no stranger to championship games having won several titles in the Ukrainian league, including one this past summer with the Kyiv Capitals. Cherepivskiy on bringing the Mures into his second championship this year.
“You know, this feeling is always pleasant to play in the final. This is the second final for me this year. As you already know, this year Kyiv Capitals became the champions of the country, and playing in a different country for yourself, to reach the final is great! Thanks to the Mures Monsters team for entrusting me with such a difficult mission! In the final we are playing against a good opponent, it will be an interesting game.”
Cherepivskiy will look to target countrymen Serbin Dmytro on the outside. At the line of scrimmage, Mexican offensive lineman Carlos Funes Caballero and his Romanian teammates upfront will be crucial if the Monsters are to pull off the upset.
Defensively, veteran defensive lineman, Tim McGee joins Ihor Protsenko as two key imports on the defensive. The Monsters will have to force turnovers to slow down an explosive Rebels attack that desires a lot of speed.
Fans of Romanian football have been waiting all season for this one as there can only be one champion. The Rebels look to pull off a perfect season while the Monsters have a chance to play spoiler and pull off a dramatic upset with the country watching.
