LIVE STREAM & PREVIEW: The Baltic Sea League Final Pits Tartu Titans Against Riga Lions
The Baltic Sea League wraps up its inaugural season this season with a title game matchup no one would have expected at the start of the season. The Tartu Titans from Estonia will travel to Riga, Latvia to face the Riga Lions, easily the most improved team over the course of the season.
The Titans opened the first season of play in the Baltic Sea League by pummeling the Lions 51-6 so it is a much-improved Riga team they will face Saturday. Tartu head coach Luca Antonio Milan, an Iowa City native, will rely on quarterback Ingemar Küüner (5) and running back Mait Kool (28) (who also doubles as a linebacker) to power an offense which averaged almost 40 points a game. Wide receiver Ott Sellis (71) has been dangerous in every game
Defensive lineman Arvi Jentson (52) anchors a defense which gave up a total of only 23 points all season. Another player Riga must be aware of is safety Orm-Gregori Joost (43).
Riga Lions head coach Matt Kessinger has watched his team grow in leaps and bounds over the course of the year. Quarterback Niclas Carpelan (31) is the key but linebacker Kristaps Balodis (40) can step in if need be. Big Jānis Jansons (77) is a defensive lineman who is called upon to play running back at times and he can be deadly. Other players to keep an eye on are linebacker Jēkabs Bitāns (3) and offensvie lineman Viljams Timrots (44).
