The final playoff berth is up for grabs Sunday, April 14 in the Portuguese League of American Football as the Paredes Lumberjacks (2-2) head to Lisbon to take on the 2-3 Lisboa Navigators.
After opening the season with two straight wins against the Braga Warriors (42-12) and Algarve Sharks (36-6), Lisboa dropped three in a row. First, they were unceremoniously dumped by the Porto Mutts 33-8 and then lost a tough one to crosstown rivals, the Lisboa Devils 28-20. In their last game before their break, the Navigators were downed 33-21 by the Cascais Crusaders.
Paredes suffered a lopsided loss to the Lisboa Devils, 53-14 but bounced back to beat the Braga Warriors 16-6. The Porto Mutts proved too much for the Lumberjacks beating them 25-12 but again Paredes responded the week after, earning a 28-10 victory over the Algarve Sharks.
Although Paredes has a game in hand over the Navigators, they need to win today to be assured of a playoff spot. The same goes for Lisboa. They need to beat the Lumberjacks to get the fourth and final playoff berth.
