The Portuscale Dragons, the only undefeated team remaining in Portugal, will try to keep the streak alive Sunday, Feb. 18 when they face the Braga Black Knights at home at Parque Soares dos Reis, Vila Nova de Gaia, in Porto, Portugal.
The Dragons (8-0) lead Portugal’s North division while the Black Knights (1-6) are last.
The last time these two teams met was the opening game of the season, November 5, when the Dragons rolled to a 41-24 victory.
With two games left in the season, Portuscale is looking to stay unbeaten and earn the top seed in Portugal going into the playoffs. The Black Knights have three games remaining and still have a chance to make the playoffs, if they win two of the last three games.
The Dragons have the second best offense in Portugal, averaging 41.6 points per game. Quarterback Awal Umaru has plenty of weapons led by receiver Miguel Vasconcelos (#13). In the backfield, running back Carlos Matos (#30) has been outstanding this year.
On the other side of the ball, the Dragons defense will look for their second shutout of the season, not an easy task against the Black Knights unpredictable and unconventional offense.
The Knights have always been known for their creative unbalanced line formations trying to exploit unprepared defenses. Led by their scoring leader Tiago Carreira (#33), the offense can score out of the wildcat and unbalanced formations. Defensively, they are focused on not allowing the big plays.
