The league-leading Krakow Kings (4-0) will put their unbeaten record on the line Sunday, May 19 when they host the Warsaw Mets (1-3) in Polish Football League action.
The game will mark the midpoint of the PFL season and will be the first matchup between these two teams this year. In 2023, Krakow edged the Mets 26-25.
Krakow opened the season with four straight wins starting by beating the Warsaw Eagles 19-9 on the road in a game in which they held the opponent’s offense to zero points until the fourth quarter, and then turning around and opening at home with a convincing 39-14 victory over the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars. The followed that up with a 48-23 victory over the Silesia Rebels and then got by the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars 32-15.
The Mets started the season off with a 27-22 win, on the road, over the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars, only to open up at home in a repeat of their semi-final game last year, in which they faced the Silesia Rebels and lost a high scoring game 43-40. The Mets were no match for their crosstown rivals, the Warsaw Eagles, losing 47-17 and finally last weekend they were upended by the defending champion Bialystok Lowlanders 34-22.
These are two teams heading in opposite directions. If the Mets are going to have any chance at the post season they need to stage the upset today.
