LIVESTREAM Poland: Warsaw Mets @ Bialystok Lowlanders, June 16, 17:00 CET (5 pm, 11 am EDT)
With the fourth and final playoff spot still up for grabs on the last day of the regular season in the Polish Football League, the Bialystok Lowlanders (3-4) will host the Warsaw Mets (2-5) today.
This is the second meeting between these two teams this year. The Lowlanders earned their first win of the season against the Mets. 34-22. And now this second game has huge implications for both teams.
The Krakow Kings (6-1), Warsaw Eagles (6-1) and Silesia Rebels (4-4) have all qualified for the post season but the exact positioning won’t be decided until the end of today’s two games. The Lowlanders and Mets are both vying for that final berth.
Regardless if they win or lose, the Lowlanders will end the regular season tied with either the Mets or the Rebels. If they should win, they will end the same record as the Rebels (4-4), and based on having a +16 points differential against the Rebels they will secure third place, and face the loser of today’s game in Krakow between the Kings and Eagles. The winner of that game will finish first and the loser second.
In the event the Mets are victorious, these two teams will end the regular season with a 3-5 record, and tie-breakers will determine which team takes the fourth spot in the playoffs. In order for the Mets to secure that spot they will need to win by 13, or more, points. If they win by 12 or less, the Lowlanders will own the tie-breakers.
