The Warsaw Mets (1-4) will host the Warsaw Eagles (4-1) in the second of two Capital City Derbies in the Polish Football League Saturday, May 25 in Poland.
In the first matchup, the Eagles were able to come away with a convincing 47-17 victory, and snap a four game losing streak, dating back to the 2019 season.
This game will have a different feel and different implications. The biggest difference is that both teams will able to suit up both of their imports. In the first game of the series both defensive imports were suspended, as a result of targeting penalties in the previous week.
The next difference, between the two Derbies, is the playoff implications. The first match-up took place in week 3 and any playoff picture would have had to be labeled as “way too early to tell,” but this time there are some serious playoff implications. While this game, alone, may not determine the playoff picture, the results will have serious implications for the post-season of both teams. If the Mets win, then both teams will be relying on the other games for tie breaker situations to clench a spot or stave off elimination. However, if the Eagles come out of the game victorious they will claim one of the four semifinal spots, and the Mets will need the Jaguars and Kings to win this week, to stay alive in the post-season equation.
