The Tychy Falcons (0-1) will travel to Warsaw to take on the Warsaw Mets (0-1) Sunday, September 13 as Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego winds up its second round of action.
The Falcons ran into a freight train last week in the form of the Wroclaw Panthers and were pummeled 52-0. Meanwhile, Warsaw also lost but not as badly. The Bydgoszcz Archers defeated them 17-7.
For the Mets, linebacker Łukasz Przygodziński scored the team’s only touchdown in last week’s loss after returning a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback TJ Richardson was able to move his team between the red zones but no further.

Warsaw’s offense with Richardson at quarterback along with fellow Brit Jack Farr at wide receiver has potential. Running backs Arkadiusz Cieślok and Witold Szpotański were able to move the ball against the Archers with blocking provided by offensive linemen Paweł Brodzki and Mateusz Sławiński. Still, they need to find a way to finish drives.
Defensively, the Mets are also led by Richardson in his role as defensive back. Rafał Michaluk also adds to the defensive back corps while the front seven is anchored by defensive lineman Mateusz Szczęk.
Despite the lopsided score, the Falcons actually had some bright moments against Wroclaw but big plays cost them. German quarterback Niklas Gorny moved the offense at times, but against a Panthers defense he was under constant pressure. If he has time this week, he has 6’5″, 220 pound wide receiver Rashad Still to throw to.
The Falcons defense actually created opportunities, picking off two passes and forcing a fumble. Look for them to put some pressure on Richardson.
This is a game between two teams looking for their first win, so there is a lot at stake.
