LIVESTREAM Poland: Tychy Falcons @ Silesia Rebels, May 14, 17:00 CET (5 pm, 11 am EDT)
By Brad Duff
Sunday will see the Silesia Rebels Katowice (2-2) host divisional and Silesian derby rivals Tychy Falcons (2-2) in week five of the Polish Football League.
With both teams sitting at a record of 2-2, they will be battling for a winning record and potentially first place in the South division heading into week six.
The teams faced off in what was an electric end to week one of the PFL1, with the Falcons securing a 36-28 home win. The Rebels entered the final quarter with a 21-17 lead, but two final period touchdowns from quarterback Cameron Yowell to Aleksander Dąda gave them a 36-21 lead.

Following Yowell’s impressive week one performance, a season-ending knee injury to the ex-Auburn walk-on resulted in the Falcons bringing former Mississippi Valley State quarterback C.J. Fowler back to Tychy. Fowler had an impressive two-game stretch at the end of last season which saw him rack up 12 total touchdowns and almost 1,000 all-purpose yards.
Unfortunately I’m sad to announce that I have suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require surgery. I’m thankful for all of the wishes of a speedy recovery from everyone who supports me. Those who know me best know that this is not the end.
I’ll be back. 🤟— Cameron Yowell (@imcamyowell) April 30, 2023
Despite the addition of Fowler, the Falcons’ offensive unit struggled in their last outing, scraping a 3-0 win over the Krakow Kings, winning the game with a field goal in overtime from Krystian Kowalczyk.
Despite having the same record, the Rebels have seemed to be a much more competitive team this season, with their only other defeat being a one-point loss to the Wroclawskie Jaguars last weekend due to a fourth quarter missed PAT.
In recent weeks, the QB-WR partnership of David James with former Great Britain international Leo Sophoclis has thrived. Sophoclis snagged two touchdowns in his regular-season debut for the team against Tychy.
