The Tychy Falcons (2-0) will host the Silesia Rebels (1-1) in this Polish Football League rivalry as the season hits the midpoint.
The Tychy Falcons are coming off of a big win against a veteran Krakow Kings team last week, while the Rebels are aiming to get on the right side of the win column. These two teams know each other well as the Silesia and Tychy clubs are located less than 30 kilometers apart.
The last time the Rebels played was April 27 when they defeated the Warsaw Mets 22-20.
The Rebels rely on a hard-hitting defense led by defensive back Devion Young and Russian linebacker Mikhail Dezhin. The two defenders will be crucial in stopping a Tychy team that loves to run the ball.

Young commented on the keys to beating the Falcons:
“Mental focus, playing smart, and doing little things right. Nothing else to it.”
Offensively, quarterback Jon Mullin is eager to find his Polish weapons Ihor Lysenko and Pawel Wojciechowski more in this game after only passing for 123 yards against Warsaw. Look for Mullin to use French athlete Hadrien Lynda as a receiver more in this game in hopes of making the offense more explosive. Mullin and the Rebels offense will need to step up as they face a dominant Falcons defensive unit.
Mullin on the Rebels matchup against Tychy.
““The best has yet to come for this team, I know we are good but we have to execute. Playing an experienced team like Tychy and it being a big game for both teams since they are in the same region does come with expectation. That expectation is to dominate and win the game. I have no doubt in my mind that it is going to be a great game. Several new additions are great and I expect them to execute very well. Having playmakers on both sides of the ball makes practice that much better because iron sharpens iron.”
Tychy’s offense has been dynamic so far this season as veteran running back Janek Szwej has meshed well with new quarterback Jules St. Ge. St.Ge is an entertaining player to watch as his speed and big arm can create big plays at any moment. Through only two games St. Ge has been dynamic, accounting for eight touchdowns, four rushing and four passing, in only two games.
Defensively, the Falcons experience is evident. Twin brothers Dominik and Jacek Sikora anchor the defensive line, while safety Laparish Lewis’ coverage ability and sure tackling make this a tough squad to score against.
Dominik Sikora on the matchup with Silesia:
“The team feels great because we won a tough match against Krakow. This week we have the annual derby against Silesia, we have played with them several times and we have always won. On Sunday we will definitely do everything we can to win, because the Rebels are a stronger team than a year ago. The Falcons will definitely be ready and will play 120 percent.”
Look for this to be an intense rivalry game between two teams that don’t like each other. Both squads feature dynamic playmakers and a experienced of players core that should make for some great football this Sunday.
