The Krakow Kings (2-0) will play host to the Silesia Rebels (2-0), 2023 championship finalists, Sunday, April 28 in a battle of unbeatens in the Polish Football League.
Expectations for the 2023 Kings did not meet reality as the team finished dead last in the South conference. However, the 2024 edition of the team is set out to show that 2023 was a fluke. They have started the season out with a 2-0 record. Beating the Eagles 19-9 on the road in a game in which they held the opponent’s offense to zero points until the fourth quarter, and then turning around and opening at home with a convincing 39-14 victory over the Katy Wroclawskie Jaguars.
Meanwhile, on the opposite sidelines are the 2023 runners-up, the Silesia Rebels. In 2024, the Rebels defeated their 2023 Polish Bowl nemesis, the Bialystok Lowlanders, 30-19 at home. They then traveled to Warsaw to have another high-scoring slug fest in beating their 2023 semifinal opponents, the Warsaw Mets, 43-40.
Being separated by about 80 km on the A4 highway, some might call this the “A4 Derby,” but whatever you call it, one thing is for sure; regardless of anything else there will be only one undefeated team in Poland on Sunday night.
